Tattoo service agreement
Pricing: The shop minimum is $100. Pricing and hourly rates vary between our artists and are decided by each artist independent to the studio. Any quotes provided by one of our artists is for that artist only and may not apply if you book with a different artist to who provided the quote.
Any quotes given are approximate. The price can vary depending on the final size, placement and design chosen on the day will influence how long the tattoo takes to complete.
The bigger and more complex your tattoo is the harder it is to accurately quote. Some big projects such as full sleeves are always charged by hour, and aren’t possible to provide quotes in advance for.
Long breaks at your (the client’s) request may also impact the cost of your appointment.
If you are late for your appointment you may be charged for the time from your scheduled appointment.
The cost of your tattoo appointment is due immediately upon the completion of your appointment. Payment plans or services are not available.
If you have a budget you are required to keep to you are responsible for communicating this to to your artist prior to your appointment. If you communicate this in advance there’s things that we can do (such as design, size, session length) to stick to your required budget!
Consults: Artists may offer free consultations to clients for large and/or complex custom tattoos. Consults are usually 10-15 minutes long and scheduling a consult will depend on your artist’s availability. To schedule consults please contact your artist directly.
Bookings: Each artist at King of the Hill Tattoo studio is responsible for their own bookings and schedule. We are not able to do bookings on behalf of our artists or check their availability, as each artist at the studio works as an independent contractor. For booking with our artists please contact them directly (preferred booking methods for each artist are viewable on our “Artists” page). Enquiry forms on the studio website specifying an artist are forwarded to the selected artist, further action regarding your enquiry is the responsibility of the individual artist.
Gift vouchers: Gift vouchers are available. If you have purchased a gift voucher some time ago (ie years) and wish to check if it is valid, please contact the studio at kingofthehilltattoostudio@gmail.com . Gift vouchers can be used for deposits. Gift vouchers are valid for tattoos at the studio rather than individual artists.
Designs: Artists do not send previews of custom designs to clients prior to appointments. This is due to their workflow and to reduce the unfortunate risk of clients taking custom designs to be tattooed by someone else. Artists are happy to accommodate some changes to custom designs on the day of your appointment. For extensive changes, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
Deposits: Artists require a $100 non-refundable deposit for all tattoo appointments. Your booking isn’t guaranteed until your artist receives the deposit. Payment methods for deposits vary for each artist, with cash and bank transfers being the most common. Your artist will inform you how to pay your deposit. Your deposit is deducted from the total price due on the day (example: $300 tattoo – $100 deposit = $200 balance due). If you need to reschedule your appointment you will need to notify your artist at least 24hrs in advance or your deposit may be forfeited. If your deposit is forfeited, a new deposit will then be required to reschedule. If you need to cancel your appointment without rescheduling your deposit will be held until you are ready to rebook. Deposits will be held for up to 6 months, if you have not rebooked your tattoo within this timeframe your deposit will be forfeited (this does not apply for any deposits received prior to 01/10/24). If you cancel your appointment with no intention of ever rebooking your deposit will not be refunded. If you use a gift voucher as a deposit, $100 will be deducted from the gift voucher balance and the previously stated deposit policy still applies.
No shows: No-showing will result in the loss of your deposit. You will require a new deposit to rebook your appointment. Repeated no-shows may result in future refusal of service.
Touchups: Artists offer free touchups on their own work if anything hasn’t healed quite right. Free touchups are not for normal tattoo aging (fading over the years and sun damage). If your tattoo heals poorly due to repeatedly ignoring aftercare instructions (such as going swimming or scratching your tattoo) our artists reserve the right to charge their standard rate for a touch up. There are some placements most artists will not offer repeated free touchups for as they notoriously heal unpredictably even for experienced tattooists (such as fingers). We will inform you if your desired placement will not be eligible for free touchups.
Hard rules and studio conduct:
Speaking or behaving in an offensive manner is not tolerated, especially in the presence of other clients. Bigoted comments regarding body/appearance, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or sex are not on. Swearing is fine, it’s about respecting others.
Please do not bring any friends or family with you who are not also being tattooed. They will not be allowed in the booth during tattooing. This is due to insurance requirements. Carers are welcome, but they will need to sign a consent form.
Do not bring children (of any age) or animals into the studio.
Refusal of Service: We reserve the right to refuse service. We may decline to tattoo you for a variety of reasons. Here’s a few examples of why our artists may decide not to tattoo you:
- You’re under 18
- An artist may feel that your idea isn’t something they can execute well
- The artist may be booked out on the date you’re after
- Repeated no-shows
- Offensive or abusive conduct
- Hate symbol tattoo requests
We are not obligated to inform you why we won’t book you in.
